– - James
(I love that last line; If you want anything inside of you to change, let God landscape you with the Word. You’ve got to work it in, till it, plow it, seed it.)
I feel alive today. The air feels a bit colder when I breathe it in. It seems a little easier to smile. I don’t really know why.
Last night was a great time hanging out with the worship department. I don’t know if I can communicate clearly enough how thankful I am for them, and how much fun I’ve had with them, and how great they have made my life over the last 2+ years....

This is so perfect. @PhillipHarder didn’t even believe that these were real women. He thought it was scripted.

Day 8.
Today is the 8th day in a row that I’ve specifically taken time aside to read, meditate, pray, and write.
If you’re a Christian, I don’t need to tell you this is something that “you should do.” You’ve heard it. I’m not writing it here to brag or try and impress you with my spirituality.
In fact, I write it here because I feel like an ass. I know that 20...

– I read this today and spent time just typing out every single thing I could think of that I’m worried about. Did the problems go away? Nope. But I do honestly feel a sense of relief. I’m still going to have to figure this stuff out and work through these issues, but they aren’t...

Goodbye Des Moines #2 (The Recognition)
Des Moines has got it going on.
Forbes says we’re the top city for young professionals and the best city to raise a family. We’re the richest metro (U.S. News & World Report), in the top 10 cities for the next decade (Kiplinger), first in bargains for real estate (msn.com) and renters (Time), the top place to “go green,” (National Geographic) and second happiest state ...

This is a cool version of O Come O Come Emmanuel - but the highlight for me is the lighting and the drummers. Obviously, lots of tracks overlaying the live performance - but this is about as aesthetically pleasing as it can get.

Apparently you can either write incredible lyrics with bad melodies, or beautiful melodies with mediocre lyrics.
I somehow manage to sit on the fence in between, with bad lyrics and bad melodies.
I wonder if someday that will be cool?
Day One.
I prefer to make mid-January resolutions. Call me a hipster, an anarchist, or just lazy…it’s what happened.
I’ve gone far too long without reading the bible, praying, and journaling regularly. So I found a system that I think will help me stay consistent with all of those things.
I need to be closer to Jesus.
Today is day one.

He can’t quite hold up his head and lift his butt at the same time. He’s getting close to crawling though!

Goodbye Des Moines #1 (Best Eats)
This will be my first “goodbye post,” highlighting some of my favorite things about the last 2+ years our life here in DesMo.
I’m going to start it off with an “easy” post: My favorite places to eat in Des Moines.
The Best Places To Eat In Des Moines.
Pizza.
1) Big Tomato Pizza Co. There is no shortage of pizza places in DesMo, most of which are pretty tasty! But...

Prayer.
Prayer. It’s so easy…right? “Just talk to God.” Then why is it so hard? How exactly does one go about ‘just talking to God’?
When do we come with confidence? When do we come with humility? When do we come with requests? When do we come with expectation? When do we come with submission?
Reading a book called Circle Maker with the staff. The last book on prayer...
27 more days.
There are twenty-seven more days left in January, and then our eyes will be looking west.
Over the next few weeks I plan to post some of my favorite things about Des Moines; memories, events, places, and other things of that nature.
California’s got a lot, but it doesn’t have what Des Moines’ got, that’s for sure!

It’s good to hear this voice again. Hopefully we’ll get a full album soon.
