But Even If He Doesn’t

Daniel 3:16-18
“Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered King Nebuchadnezzar, “Your threat means nothing to us. If you throw us in the fire, the God we serve can rescue us from your roaring furnace and anything else you might cook up, O king. But even if he doesn’t, it wouldn’t make a bit of difference, O king. We still wouldn’t serve your gods or worship the gold statue you set up.”

This is one of the great stories of the Old Testament. The fiery furnace! What an incredible portion of scripture.

In my journey lately of revisiting prayer I’ve asked a lot about the idea of praying with confidence. I still don’t know what the balance is, but when I read this story the other day it jumped out at me.

“But even of He doesn’t…”

Incredible confidence in God, but their love of God isn’t based on him saving them from a terrible death.

Confident in His power, but more confident in his love & relationship.

Something to think about, I suppose.
